The Lower School Reading Program is a multi-sensory interactive program that involves both decoding and comprehension. Students are provided with opportunities to learn, practice, and apply strategies within a dynamic process.
Instruction is meaning based and integrates listening, speaking, reading, writing, spelling, and critical thinking. A variety of instructionalactivities accommodate different learning styles and varying language proficiencies.
An individualized approach involves both phonetic and whole language instruction on each students’ level. Class time is divided between group and individual activities and interventions.
