Physics is an upper level class that studies kinematics, dynamics, momentum, energy, sound and electromagnetism. Students study how these concepts are interconnected and experienced in the real world. Each concept is examined by experiments that rely on computer assisted data collection and analysis.
The students acquire skills that include problem solving, graph analysis, the ability to independently design and carry out experiments, develop group work habits and critical thinking through presentations with defense of position. While the work is rigorous, in regular physics the students are in a more structured and supportive environment with an emphasis on concept development and critical thinking.
Use of Common Core and the College Readiness Standards prepares the students for college preparatory exams and the capability of being scientifically literate in an ever-increasing technological world.
